? VATSIM Integration — Inbound & Outbound Handoffs
What is the SayIntentions.AI integration with VATSIM?
Our system supports inbound and outbound ATC handoffs with VATSIM, allowing seamless transitions between SayIntentions.AI ATC and live VATSIM controllers. This provides continuous ATC coverage as you move between controlled and uncontrolled airspace.
How do inbound handoffs (from VATSIM to SayIntentions.AI) work?
When your VATSIM controller assigns you 122.800 (UNICOM) or any other non-controlled frequency:
Tune your simulator radio to 122.800 (UNICOM).
Start SayIntentions.AI.
You will automatically be detected and connected to our AI ATC.
Your SimBrief flight plan is automatically loaded.
SayIntentions.AI ATC will then assign the appropriate frequency for your route and provide enroute ATC coverage until arrival.
How do outbound handoffs (from SayIntentions.AI to VATSIM) work?
When SayIntentions.AI detects active VATSIM ATC coverage:
Our system will automatically hand you off to the relevant VATSIM frequency.
At that point, SayIntentions.AI ATC will disable itself to comply with VATSIM regulations.
You can then continue your flight under live VATSIM control.
What if SayIntentions.AI doesn’t detect the handoff automatically?
If we don’t detect a live VATSIM frequency:
Manually tune to the frequency provided by the VATSIM controller.
In SayIntentions.AI, press the “ATC” button (bottom-right corner) to disable AI ATC and comply with VATSIM’s operational rules.
Can I use SayIntentions.AI ATC while connected to an active VATSIM frequency?
No.
SayIntentions.AI ATC must not be active while tuned to a frequency currently staffed by a VATSIM controller.
Doing so will cause overlapping or conflicting instructions and violates VATSIM network policy.
AI Traffic and Skynet on VATSIM
When flying on VATSIM, we strongly recommend disabling our AI Traffic and Skynet systems.
SayIntentions.AI traffic is not managed by VATSIM and may receive AI instructions that conflict with live controllers.
Skynet traffic injection is not synchronized with VATSIM traffic and may cause visual or operational conflicts.
To ensure a smooth and compliant experience, disable all AI or third-party traffic systems before connecting to the VATSIM network.
Push-to-Talk (PTT) Keybinds
You are required to use separate Push-to-Talk (PTT) keybinds for SayIntentions.AI and VATSIM.
VATSIM regulations prohibit transmitting on non-staffed frequencies.
Accidentally transmitting to SayIntentions.AI or “in the blind” on a VATSIM frequency may result in account warnings or suspensions.
Disclaimer: SayIntentions.AI accepts no liability for any violations of VATSIM rules and regulations.
It is the sole responsibility of the user to remain compliant with both SayIntentions.AI and VATSIM policies when using both services during the same flight.
Summary
| Scenario | What to Do | SayIntentions.AI Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Leaving VATSIM (assigned UNICOM) | Tune to 122.800 and start SayIntentions.AI | AI ATC activates and takes over |
| Entering VATSIM airspace | AI hands off to active VATSIM controller | AI ATC disables itself |
| Handoff not detected | Manually tune and press “ATC” | AI ATC manually disabled |
| On active VATSIM frequency | Do not use SayIntentions.AI | Violates VATSIM rules |
| Using AI Traffic / Skynet | Disable before connecting | Prevents conflicts |
| Push-to-Talk setup | Use separate keys for SayIntentions & VATSIM | Avoids rule violations |
