What are the Aircraft Identity Settings and How Should They Be Set?

Aircraft Profile:

From SayIntentions.AI Pilot Portal, you can fill in your callsign etc. which can be used on both GA and Commercial flights. It can be accessed by choosing settings, then Aircraft Callsign. You can change these settings for any of your aircraft based on its ICAO code, as reported by the sim (MSFS). Do this by selecting your Aircraft Profile at the top. If your aircraft ICAO matches one of these, your callsign will be set to the setting that matches the ICAO. If there is no matching ICAO in the list then it will use the default setting.
For example if you had the following defined in your Aircraft Profile list:

C172 - Skyhawk
BE58 - Baron
BE60 - Duke
SR22 - Cirrus

and you are loaded up in MSFS in a Beechcraft 60 Duke, then the your aircraft will automatically be named "Duke"

NOTE: X-Plane users should manually set their ICAO especially if they are VFR and want to run CheckLists. Also if you have created a custom Checklist, you will want to set this field to the custom ICAO you created.

SIMBRIEF:

  1. Select Use Simbrief for Callsign and Aircraft ICAO to overide all the below settings and use what you have filed in Simbrief as you callsign.
  2. IMPORTANT NOTE: If there are any issues with your Simbrief Callsign, it will default to using your custom callsign below this tab. See below for troubleshooting

CUSTOM CALLSIGN:

-Important things to fill in here are:

            a) Aircraft Callsign (typically the manufacturer or the model of the airplane, ie. Cessna or

                Vision Jet)

            b) Tail Number (should follow the naming conventions for your country)

            c) Color Future use for group flights

            d) Long Callsign - spell out phonetic alphabet and numbers for your entire callsign (how

ATC addresses you on first contact)

            e) Short Callsign - spell out phonetic alphabet and numbers for your shorten callsign (how

ATC addresses you on subsequent contacts)

(NOTE: Clicking on Auto here will automatically fill in the Long and Short Callsign fields

phonetically based on the Tail number entered above)

AIRLINE ICAO and FLIGHT NUMBER:

-The bottom section is for commercial flights:

           a) Airline ICAO - enter the 3 letter ICAO code for your chosen airline (ie. EWG or UAL)

           b) Airline Flight Number - enter your chosen flight number

-If you want SayIntentions to use airline info from your SimBrief flightplan rather than what is entered here:

           a) Make sure to check the SimBrief checkbox mentioned above

NOTE: This pulls Aircraft ICAO & Flight Number from Simbrief ONLY AFTER RECEIVING

CLEARANCE FROM ATC and it overwrites Aircraft ICAO in the SI Identity tab unless it is

                 set to <AUTO>

           b) In SimBrief, it is essential that the following fields be filled in:

                   - Airline ICAO (used by CabinCrew) - 3 letter ICAO code for your chosen airline (ie.

                     EWG or UAL)

                   -  Flight Number (used by CabinCrew) - enter your chosen flight number

                   - ATC Callsign (used by ATC) - the callsign that will be used by ATC, typically a

combination of the Airline and Flight Number (ie. EWG899)

VIRTUAL AIRLINES:
If you're flying with a virtual airline, ensure you enter the custom ICAO code and corresponding callsign in your pilot portal settings.

If your Virtual Airline is part of the the SayIntentions.AI Virtual Airline Alliance, select it from the dropdown. If you VA is not associated, you can manually enter it below in the Custom ICAO Codes and Callsign.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

I have "Use Simbrief checked" but its defaulting to my Custom Callsign!

- Make sure that your settings are correct in the general tab (auto-detect / Force it to this ICAO)

- Make sure the aircraft you are using is selected in the Aircraft Profile under Aircraft Callsign. If you don't have one set up for that aircrafts specific ICAO, it will use general. Make sure you have selected Use Simbrief for the appropriate profile.

Check that your ICAO you use either exists in Real Life, or exists in your Virtual Airlines tab (see above: Virtual Airlines). If you ICAO does not meet that criteria, SayIntentions will use the custom callsign.

- Is your Simbrief flight plan missing the required callsign in the "ATC Callsign" tab? The ATC Callsign must have the three letter ICAO preceding the flight number in this specific location. This usually gets auto filled when you put in Airline and Flight Number. If it does not match, SayIntentions will use the custom callsign. (REMEMBER, this ICAO MUST follow the rules of the above point with the ICAO rules.
